Georgetown Pediatrics- Child Life Program and Studio G
Piano Keys 4 Kids is a proud volunteer at Georgetown Pediatrics!
The Child Life Program at Georgetown provides therapeutic play and recreational activities that offer support to child and family as they cope with hospitalization, illness and treatment.
Studio G (Artists in Residence Program), brings a full range of professional artists-poets, dancers, musicians, visual artists, puppeteers, storytellers-to provide a full palette of expressive activities to children hospitalized at Georgetown.
Mallory Hancock of Piano Keys 4 Kids, is a Studio G volunteer artist that has received formal instruction in child development, the special needs and concerns of children who are hospitalized, safety issues, communication skills, and the importance of parents, other family members, and friends. This intense training is followed by a supervised internship under the direction of child development professionals and ongoing educational opportunities and support. Because of the program's unique training and internship components, Studio G has captured national and international recognition as a model program.
Sharing the Keys Curriculum n in such settings as Georgetown Pediatrics is Piano Keys 4 Kids first initiative in spreading it's curriculum in the health care industry.
